SUNDAY

The forecast was for rain but we awoke to a lovely sunny day although it is now starting to cloud over a bit (3p.m.).  Far more people walking our route this morning and a Tui flew in front of us and landed in a bush just beside us.  The photo I took wasn't the best as it was shaded but I have some Doug took on our property a couple of days ago..  Doug took the photos as he saw the Tui eating the mandarins but, of course, he stopped once Doug had his camera.

The white eyes like both the mandarins and sugar water.

and this is not our cat, Blue, who spends most of his time here.

For me the best part of the day was being able to get two loads of washing done and dried in the open air.

We went into Lockdown on 18th August and we will possibly be told how much longer tomorrow.

  1. In NZ the Tuis are eating Mandarins, whilst here in France the Blackbirds are eating our Grapes.

    1. As you can see the mandarins are cut and put up for them. I doubt if you do that with the grapes

  2. I threw out sunflowers seeds from last summer and the sparrows got there first, the starlings are investigating the box Hugh put up for them last summer, Lucky feathered friends, no lockdown, I am wondering if our level 3 predicted for Tuesday night might be extended. Hope the Teddy Bears have some wise words by then.

    1. The sparrows would have enjoyed the seeds. I think you will still go to Level 3. The new cases are all Auckland/Warkworth.

  3. that's a nice idea to put some mandarine slices on the side of the bird box.

  4. Those white eyes look perpetually surprised, possibly at their luck to be dining on mandarins.

    1. Could well be. They are also known as Silver Eyes or the Maori name is Tauhou but I was first told the name White e
Eye so that is what has stuck with me.

  5. Love that first tui photo of Doug's. It must be great having them visit your garden like that.
Those little birds have so many names LOL. We grew up calling them wax-eyes, but I can never see why they earned that name. White/Silver Eye is so much more sensible :)

    1. That's right, I knew there was another name but couldn't recall it.

  6. Fingers crossed we come out of lockdown on Thursday. I've seen alot of cars out and about, makes me wonder if people really are mucking around or accessing essential services.

    1. Haven't seen anything here as we have been home except for our morning walk. I don't think level 3 will be much different for us.
