The garden is loving the rain and the lawn is starting to green up.
Unfortunately, the Far North where it is most needed has not had as much rain and we are still being told that we can expect the drought to continue until May. People on the coast north of here are also being warned about using bores as the aquifer is getting low and there is concern that it could get flooded by seawater.
Drizzle here all day yesterday. Yuk.
ReplyDeleteYes, we ended up with drizzle all day yesterday as well. Wonderful for the garden.
DeleteWhen it starts raining here it never knows when to stop. May you have all the wet stuff you need.
ReplyDeleteIt will take a lot to replenish everything but is a good start.
DeleteAt last! But worrying about the boreholes and the aquifer
ReplyDeleteYes, it would be serious if the salt water got into the aquifer.
DeleteI hope this is just the start and you don't have to wait till May for some serious downpours.
ReplyDeleteMust be so wonderful to see the garden greening.
Yes, hopefully, I will soon be able to start our winter planting.
DeleteYes I'm loving the rain, as our house is on sand it's very hard to grow things on, but the weeds seem to be loving it. Even better we've had a bit more water in the tank.
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived on our 5 acre block north of Awanui it was sand. It takes a bit of getting used to. Glad you have some more water in your tank. Not long now and, I presume, you will be on mains water.
DeleteSo glad you are getting a bit of rain. One can almost hear the lawn and garden sighing with relief. Grass especially seems to green up again so quickly, like it was just waiting for that bit of moisture.
ReplyDeleteYes, and the temperature has dropped as well.
