COVID19

After 102 days with no cases of  Community Transmission we have just had a Special News Announcement at 9.15 p.m. telling us that there are now 4 new cases in Auckland in one family with no known source.

Auckland is going to Level 3 tomorrow and the rest of the country to Level 2.

We had planned to go to an Election Meeting tomorrow but have decided to stay home.

  2. This virus is unpredictable and will take years to control totally. However, your country has done an excellent job of it, and I am sure this outbreak, although troubling) will be managed.

  3. I hope so. At least the new rules are being brought in quickly.

  4. I just heard it on our lunchtime bulletin - it is very strange and quite scary to learn that there is no known source.

    1. Yes, I hope they can trace it quickly. I expect we will be at these new levels longer than the three days they have suggested. At least things have happened quickly. Last night there was an Emergency News Bulletin and then later an Alert Message on Cell phones and again at 7 a.m. this morning another Alert Message.

  5. Where did they get the infection? No election meetings, panic buying!!! Masks again, thank goodness we did our grocery shop yesterday. Now I need to think what do we really need to have in case we go to level 4 again. Anything is possible, the government must be in full overtime planning for all scenarios. Stay safe up there Susan and Doug, we will be social distancing once again.

    1. I was going to the local Library to pick up a book on hold but we will now go to the Main Library as well to get some new books. We also had a scare the other day as the man who broke into Isolation on Friday then drove to Whangarei. Idiot.

Do take care Jean and Hugh and stay safe.

  6. Oh dear, it is worrying isn't it. We seem to be blindly ignoring the risks in so many ways...although we have to wear masks in shops, I am not going near them, too many holiday makers around at the moment. Goodness knows what will the state of play will be in a few weeks time.

    1. It has seemed as though life was back to normal here although we have still been staying home as much as possible. Holidaymakers sound a problem for you. Stay safe.

  7. People become too complacent when the numbers of cases seem to have dropped to near zero. Like Serenata, we are worried about the number of holiday makers there are around. Right next door we regularly have 10, and they change every week. We have no idea where they come from, etc.

    1. That is a worry especially as you say you don't know where they are from.

  8. You've got it right when 4 cases takes you to level 3. I hope they can find out how it was transmitted, and spread. They do a bit of tracing here but nothing like your system.
