MAGPIE MOTH

A lovely (mid winter) spring day here today.  When I was pegging out washing earlier there were a pair of Magpie moths fluttering around.  They were too fast for me to take a photo.  Doug went out later but could not find the moths  and, instead took photos of spring flowers.

I just went out again and found the Magpie Moths on the corner post of the back deck.  It is lovely to see them as they have been absent for a while.

  1. Loved your lachenalias. They brought back happy memories of years ago when I had an old concrete trough full of them :)

    1. Our Lachenalias have been out for a few weeks. I have had a couple of bunches on the dining table. I haven't noticed the grape hyacinths and we don't have iris.

  3. I had one indoors recently, on the wall. I left it there, opened the door, and eventually it flew away.

  4. What does your Magpie moth live on? Ours is also pied, hence the name, and lives on currants and gooseberries

    1. Improving, thank you. He put his feet up after taking the photos, at least he is able to walk on it now.

  6. I am not familiar with all the flowers in the pictures, but they are all beautiful. How lucky you are to have these blooming in mid-winter. I am usually shoveling snow during that time.

    1. Although we don't get snow and rarely get frost, these are Spring flowers and not usually in bloom at this time of year.
