What we actually did was completely different. Since Doug's daughter has been spending the nights here in our sun room Doug has realised that it would be better to get his large china cabinet moved. So this is what we did. This involved moving a lot of furniture. First moving a large coffee table and settee, then moving the bed so that we could get to the china cabinet. All the ornaments were removed and taken to the spare room and then the fun began. Between us, we managed to get it flat then on its side and then carried right through the house to the spare bedroom.
In the spare bedroom, we had moved the other spare bed and bedside table and put all the ornaments on the bed.
We got it all done and fixed in place but did not have the energy to replace everything, that will have to wait for tomorrow.
Not the best photos. I must have been on a bit of a lean when I took a photo of the narrow sunroom without the cabinet. Much more room.
It now sits in the spare bedroom and fits in nicely.
Tomorrow, after going to the Growers Market and Supermarket and putting the ornaments away I can start on my list.
Gosh I bet you were tired after moving furniture around but no doubt it all looks much better now
ReplyDeleteIt is much better but we should sleep well tonight.
DeleteA beautiful cabinet, and if the market is too tiring, there is always Monday.
ReplyDeleteWill get it done eventually. Monday is Parkinson walk which is out at Hikurangi this week.
DeleteSounds like a lot of work moving things around - no wonder you were tired afterwards. Have fun putting all the ornaments back (something I love doing). Enjoy your weekend :)
ReplyDeleteThey were quite heavy but we managed.
DeleteIs she going to be spending the nights there for a long time? Seems like a lot of effort if not. And I assume that at some point you will put it back again.
ReplyDeleteIt will not be moved back, much better where it is. It is a fortnight today since her husband had the fatal heart attack and we have no idea how long she will be spending the nights here. As long as she wants or needs.
DeleteMoving something like that always seems like it's going to be an easy job!
ReplyDeleteGood that Doug's daughter has somewhere to feel safe after her loss
