SCULPTURE NORTHLAND.

The Sculpture Northland Exhibition is being held over ten days at the Quarry Gardens.  It is an annual event but is the first time we have been.

This year there are 150 sculptural works on show.  The weather has been variable to say the least with a cold, wet day on Tuesday where we had the fire lit all day however yesterday was fine so after a visit to the Library we went to the Quarry Gardens.  It was very busy but they had plenty of volunteers directing traffic and we were lucky to get right in to the Gardens to park as many were out on the road.

Here are some photos I took.

As you can see the sculptures were very varied.

  1. An appealing range of sculptures, different styles, different materials. I am sure you enjoyed your visit.

  2. The kiwi in the hand, and the gateway between two poles, my picks, but our garden isn't big enough for any sculpture now. What a great display.

    1. Yes, I liked the gate and the kiwi. We watched her carving the kiwi in wood at an earlier, different, sculpture event. She has now made it into a bronze.

  3. I think modern sculpture always looks so much more at home when it is placed in a natural garden setting. The garden informality seems to go well with the quirkiness of modern sculpture. It would have been an interesting visit :)

  4. A very wide range of interesting sculptures, some of which I'd welcome in my own garden.

    1. The sculpture exhibition is just for 10 days although there are some permanent ones. There is a bed and/or meal here if you want.
