Every time we shop things seems to be more expensive. Vegetables have increased in price because of the storms we had earlier. I am so pleased that our brassicas, in particular, have done well this year. When I was in the Supermarket the other day white cauliflowers were $8.00 and coloured $10.00 way more than I would want to pay for them.
I've not yet noticed food prices going up here. Cauli's are between 50p and 75p. I buy two a week. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds good. Where would they be grown? The problem here is the storms that wiped out lots of crops
DeleteThose prices are astronomical. Our vegetable prices haven't risen too much. I hope the winter market will be affordable. Can't do without cabbage and cauliflower.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen prices anywhere near them before. It must be because of the storm damage.
ReplyDeleteThere are problems here too. Drought and storms have affected supplies..I am not sure where Cro gets his caulis!! They are tending to be smaller, as are many veg, and far more expensive.
ReplyDeleteWe have been travelling for a couple of weeks..I am not looking forward to today's shopping. Shelves have been much thinner in all sorts of shops.
Eggs are also more expensive here because of the war in Ukraine and disruption with wheat supplies.
DeleteI do not buy tomatoes now, the small ones work out at about $25 a kg, the large ones are $15. !!!! Great cartoon. I wonder if the caravan will have some Paddington Bear teddies ???
ReplyDeleteI never buy tomatoes in winter/early spring. (When they are available I often use persimmons Instead). Haven't walked past the caravan for a while but he did stop after Lockdown ended. Will have to check
DeleteThe cartoon is gorgeous - gave me a good chuckle :))
ReplyDeleteThat's good - we all need a laugh.
Deleteoh I know right? We use to spend about $250 per week for the 3 of us, now it's gone up to over $300, it's crazy
