We are on Day 12 of no new cases in the country and there is talk of moving down to Level 1 and what it will entail.
It seems as though life will be basically back to "normal". Everyone will be able to return to work, school, sports and domestic travel. Numbers will not be limited although people will still be asked to keep their distance where possible. As far as people entering the country are concerned there will still be screening and mandatory 14 day quarantine or isolation.
I am still not keen on going to too many places. Yesterday, when we were in Kamo I went to the butcher to get a couple more bacon hocks for some soup. Only 2 people were allowed in the shop at a time and I had to sign in. There were signs everywhere as to what one could or could not do. I did not feel at all comfortable.
I do, however, realise how lucky we are. America not only has a high death rate but all the fall-out for the murder of George Floyd. I don't know what the world is coming to.
I agree, I was happier in Level 4!! In spite of the restrictions, felt so much safer. I, too, do not know what is happening world wide, and even in Auckland and elsewhere here, the protests do not help what happened or any effects afterwards. Hugh had to sign in when he came to the hospital to pick me up, and had a sticker to say he was a legal visitor.I was so glad the security is tight there.
ReplyDeleteDo take care of yourself. I hope people are sensible when we go down to Level 1.
DeleteEurope is not out of the woods yet, but things are being relaxed. This has encouraged fighting on beaches and in parks; last night there was a mass brawl in London. It has also sparked a new trend in pollution with people throwing their used masks etc into the sea, rivers, canals, etc. What strange creatures we humans are!
ReplyDeleteI just don't understand some folk.
DeleteOur restrictions might as well be at level one. Certainly around here life is just as it was. No one even thinks of keeping a distance. All well so far but from June 15 which is just next week foreign tourists will be allowed in. We wait and hope that all is well.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem so strange in the beginning to shop and have coffee again. You get used to it very quickly and it becomes difficult to remember quatantine
I just hope you stay safe there.
DeleteOur level has been reduced, but some people have been ignoring the levels anyway from what I have seen. I noticed while out on my walk on Monday that one of the holiday homes, which has been empty all this time, (that has I think it is owners who live in Germany), now has people living in it, so they have obviously come over for their June holiday! How that is allowed I have no idea!
ReplyDeleteThat does sound a long way to travel at this time.
DeleteYes I often think we are much more fortunate compared to other countries but I still keep my distance away from people.
ReplyDeleteIt all seems very surreal. No cases but it could still be here.
DeleteI am finding shopping not very comfortable as well. There seems to be so much happening around the world at the moment, one wonders where it will all end.
ReplyDeleteYes, where and when will it end.
DeleteAlthough most countries are slowly getting on top of the virus we will never be completely free of it until a vaccine is found, which could be a long time yet.
ReplyDeleteIt must be really frightening in the States currently, and I saw on the news that there is great unrest in Brazil too.
Yes, Rosemary, I just cannot imagine what it would be like in the States at the moment. Even with a vaccine I understand the virus changes so it may not be reliable quite scary.
DeleteI am not sure that "what the world is coming to" reflects reality. It is already there. Lynching of black people in the USA in one form or another is a time-honoured tradition. You can be horrified by what happened, but not surprised.
ReplyDeleteI suppose I should have said "what the world has come to" of course as well as the lynching there is also all the bizarre antics of Donald Trump.
DeleteYes I often think we are much more fortunate compared to other countries but I still keep my distance away from people.
