TO THE VET AGAIN

Yesterday we drove to the vets to get some wash and treatment for Sophie's ears.  Unfortunately, the treatment is on prescription and new rules state that an animal must be seen at least every six months for prescriptions so we made an appointment for today at 11 a.m.

After doing a load of washing (which is just sitting in the porch as the day is damp) and dusting and vacuuming, we took Sophie in to the vet.  She was examined, had her claws cut and we came home with the necessary items and a wallet a lot lighter.

We seem to be going there rather too often these days.  Kim the Cat has healed quickly where she had the infection from a bite lanced about ten days ago.  Unfortunately, her stomach/bowel problems continue but she seems happy enough.

I find it hard to believe that tomorrow is July and half the year has gone already.

  1. Not fun to spend too much time at the vets, and it can be expensive. That is good to hear Kim the Cat is healing from the bite wound and that Sophie got her meds.

    1. With two elderly animals it gets very costly but they are worth it.

  2. If only there was a government subsidy for animals too. Cold here, snow hovering just north of us, more winter jackets on today.

    1. Yes, there is a big difference between the cost of meds for people and pets. That must be where our cold air is coming from.

  3. Looking after one's friends..still worth it!
It doesn't seem real that we were in NZ six months ago...four and a bit since we left.

  4. Those vet bills are always a shock. We had to take Wheezer last week and Daisy has an appointment next week. They are necessary but so expensive.

    1. When I was at the vet recently a lady was paying the final payment on a large bill. The receptionist said to her that pets are a luxury. I think that they are also a necessity- I look back to the time, when Max went into care, I would sit on the sofa at night with a cat on either side of me for company.

  5. I have a niece who is a small animal vet. She says her prices are no different to those of a doctor, only doctors get subsidized and vets don't. Which is a shame, as pets are such an important part of our lives.

  6. My daughter's cat has a habit of getting into fights with other cats and having abscesses come up, thankfully she always seems to heal up quickly afterwards. The washing sounds similar to us, we have been making use of our hangers inside as it seems the minute we put washing on the line outside it rains.
