DAY 26 LOCKDOWN

I was very impressed with New World On Line shopping.  I had a phone call just after 8 a.m. checking on the few items that were not available - the lady went through the items with me and checked whether I wanted a substitute or not.  In the end there were just three items not available - no baking powder - Countdown didn't have that either last week, Vanilla Extract - I still have some and some baking powder and gluten free breadcrumbs that Doug asked me to get for a recipe he saw - we will just make them.

I also finished the jigsaw

Max and I used to enjoy having a narrow boat holiday on our visits to the U.K..

Our Prime Minister has just announced that we will stay at Alert Level 4 for another week until Monday 27th at 11.59 p.m. so basically Tuesday 28th then go to Level 3.  This level will be much the same for us.  People are still asked to stay (and work from) home as much as possible.  Food outlets and other businesses will be allowed to open for contactless delivery.  Construction and Forestry will be able to restart work keeping at a safe distance.

After 2 weeks if there is no further problem we will move down to Level 2.  We think that we will be staying home for some time yet.  We have found i-shopping excellent (even though I do prefer to choose my own).  For both of us our hair is getting a bit out of control but then no-one else sees it.  Still not sure at what level the Library will open but I am sure I can find something on the shelves here or, possibly on-line.

I think it was the right decision.

    1. I am waiting for Doug to trim the back of my hair. We could be home most of the time for the rest of the year.

  2. Hair cut seem to be in the mind of everyone! Shave your head and just let it grow back!

    1. I have often thought about doing that for charity but when I read about it it is always just as the fundraiser has finished. If we were going into summer may not be so bad but I would need to wear a "beanie" to keep my head warm so may as well just cover hair with a beanie.

  3. There will be more online shopping...and online working in the future...
Don't forget that 1tsp bicarbonate of soda plus 2 tsp cream of tartar = baking powder...and it isn't going stale in a tub!
I think that NZ can ease off the restrictions.but still be very wary of anyone from outside....

    1. I was trying to remember the other ingredient (apart from Bicarb of soda but hadn't got around to looking it up. Thank you. I have both. I think we will be in lockdown for some time yet.

  4. I hope the library is included in Level 3. It's the one place you really do need to use when you're in lockdown

  5. I don't think libraries and other public places like museums, swimming pools etc. open until level two, which is when cafes and restaurants will also be allowed to reopen.
We are having trouble finding cornflour, but at least I can substitute flour for that. Funny little things that we always took for granted.
Stay safe and be happy, Mxx

    1. I see cornflour is listed on New World here but it may be a different story when one tries to buy it.

  6. I would have preferred two more weeks at Level 4, but I understand businesses need a lift. However, Jacinda is doing an amazing job!
Ive found Countdown on-line shopping very good with very few items unavailable.
My hair is driving me crazy too! I have an appointment for a cut on the 30th but I don’t think I’ll get there! My age group still won’t be allowed out then. Oh well
It’s a small price to pay to remain healthy🧚‍♀️
