Today, as forecast, we have rain, steady not heavy which is ideal for the new plants. This is the view through the rain-wet window.
The newly planted lettuce and pansies/violas enjoying the rain
The vegetables from the previous seedling order are doing well. They are hard to see in this photo but there are a few sugar snap peas forming.
The beetroot are growing.
the cabbages are starting to form hearts
The brocolli and cauliflower are doing well
so are the carrots
and the Swiss chard.
Lots more rain showers in the forecast. The flower seedlings in the front garden are also looking happy.
Great when the weather complies with a gardener's wishes, it doesn't happen very often. Which reminds me, I've got some flowers that need watering.
ReplyDeleteYes, it worked in perfectly. A lot of work planting all of them but well worth it.
DeleteGlad that you are finally getting the rain you need. Hope it doesn't come with a side order of earthquake!
ReplyDeleteLuckily, we are not in an earthquake area although I just checked with Mr Google and there was one on the coast 9 years ago over 400 kms deep.
DeleteHave you grown 'Cavolo Nero', Italian black cabbage, it would make a good addition to your range of vegs. I now grow more of it than any other greens.
ReplyDeleteNo, I have not grown it although was just thinking about it. I have bought it at the market. Our main seedling order was a set bundle of plants but I should have got some with this last order. When we finally start to go shopping again I must look for some seeds. How do you cook it?
DeleteI just steam it in a tiny amount of salted water. You can either remove the stems, or not, as the mood takes you.
DeleteYour garden is looking good, it is flourishing - must be all the love it has been receiving :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it always gets lots of TLC.
