DAY 38 LOCKDOWN

With no hairdressers being available during Lockdown we are both getting a bit shaggy.  We have lots of scissors but none really sharp enough for hair cutting so decided we had better buy a pair of specific hairdressing scissors.  We were surprised at the price of professional ones but found a reasonable pair and, while I was in the shop (a Chain store) I decided to look at books which led me to Dvd's.

The scissors ended up quite expensive as I have ordered some DVD's:

The King's Speech
The Water Diviner
My Old Lady
Victoria and Abdul
and Jojo Rabbit.

They are all films that we have heard good reviews of  so will now have to make time to view them.

Yesterday Jean mentioned an exercise programme on T.V. this morning for "the oldies" so we tuned in to that - it was just half an hour so we will try and keep those exercises up as well as the walk and skipping.

Some rain is still forecast for the next three days.  I hope so.  It is hard keeping the garden going with just watering cans.  We have had a dry winter followed by a dry year and need a very wet winter.  The main dam is down to around 45 per cent.

  1. It has begun raining lightly here now. Hopefully it will reach you soon :)
So many folk learning to cut their own hair. It makes me wonder if many hairdressers will be among the small businesses that are not expected to survive our coming economic crisis.
    Enjoy your movie watching :)

    1. I think we will just be trimming. We have had a few showers but not much - hopefully some rain this afternoon.

  2. I am starting to like sleeping with a long-haired woman! I don't think I have ever seen tresses on the pillowcase before!

    1. I think things are the same in most of the world although Australia counted hairdressers as Essential Workers so they didn't close.

  4. Good luck with the hair cutting. I used clippers on my husband and it was a most uneven job. Now growing out thank goodness

    1. I used to cut Max' hair. He retired early and so, to save money, I started cutting his hair and actually did a better job so carried on with it. Doug is a bit reluctant.

  5. We're pretty 'shaggy' here as well. I think we'll ride it out (me in a bun & the husband looking a bit like a beach bum) for the duration. :D

I have seen only two films on your list: JoJo Rabbit (Taika Waititi is brilliant) and The King's Speech. May you enjoy your selections!

  6. Someone asked me very recently if I could recommend a good film for lockdown. I thought of a film called 'Breaking away', which is about a group of small town adolescents, and cycling. Worth watching if you can find it.
