Yesterday, we spent quietly at home which was how Doug wanted to spend his birthday. He had lots of phone calls and then his youngest daughter came for a late lunch. It was late as she had a puncture in her van and had to use the ute instead as the wheels are too heavy for her to change.
After Christine had gone I was just finishing the dishes and Doug had just got back from taking Sophie for a short walk when his Grand daughter arrived. We had just heard that she has applied for and got a new job in A. & E. She would have liked that when she qualified but has been working on the Orthopaedic Ward. We had a good chat to her then her younger brother arrived. By the time they left it was time to start thinking about feeding the animals and getting our evening meal. A very pleasant day.
Today has been a lovely day, a bit chilly to start, but we have been busy getting most of the plants in the ground including the Pieris. It should be lovely when it grows.
Glad to hear Doug had an enjoyable birthday. Pieris makes a beautiful shrub - we used to call it the Lily of the Valley shrub when I was growing up.
ReplyDeleteWe came across it at the Warehouse and hope it does well here.
DeleteBelated birthday wishes to Doug. It's nice to read about you preparing for summer while I'm planting daffodil bulbs and winter pansies.
ReplyDeleteThank you from Doug. Winter seems to have flown by this year but then it has been very mild even by our standards.
DeleteHappy birthday, Doug,
ReplyDeleteThank you David.

ReplyDeleteWe always come out with more than we went in for.
DeleteHappy Birthday to Doug. Sounds like a busy but refreshing day, we all need days like that. Pieris really are great plants for attracting bees, good choice.
ReplyDeleteThank you Doc. The Pieris was a spontaneous purchase, couldn't resist it.
