Today's blog was to be about our picnic at the beach but when we got home we found Sophie was having trouble standing and seemed very lethargic. We called the afterhours vet and luckily the vet who saw Sophie last week was on duty and came straight here. Her main problem was with her heart but he also felt a tumour in her stomach and the kindest thing was for him to put her to sleep here at home.
I only took this photo a week ago when we took Sophie to the vets for her ears and the antibiotics had performed wonders and they had cleared up.
She was Doug's dog and he has given her the best of lives.
Oh Doug and Susan we are so sorry for your loss. Sophie was such a beautiful sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteThank you. She was a wonderful girl and it has all happened so quickly.
DeleteTo be there with Sophie, and share your huge loss with us, my love to you both as I know the grief when you say that final farewell, Sophie, you had love, beyond all else, and at home, with Sue and Doug, you will have walked over the Rainbow Bridge with a huge rainbow of love surrounding you every step.XXXXX
ReplyDeleteThank you Jean. Although she was getting old and had been going downhill it all happened very quickly and she was very peaceful.
DeleteLoosing faithful pets is always very sad, but I am pleased that her end was a peaceful one, and that she passed away with both of you at home.
ReplyDeleteIt was the way we would all like to go.
DeleteI am so sorry, Susan. Our pets never live long enough.
ReplyDeletePoor old Sophie, she sounds very like Monty; and went the same way. Good that you were to hold her paw.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss. You did give her a great life, and a peaceful end.
