We have had a couple of busy days. The Waratahs are almost completely out in flower now and this morning I looked out and there was a Tui busily drinking nectar from them. I managed to get some photos, not the best as the Tui flits from flower to flower but not too bad. You can see the white tuft on the chest. These were taken from our Dining Room window.
A nice view to have from your window. Up until a couple of minutes ago I had no idea what either a waratah or a tui might be. (In a couple of hours I'll probably have forgotten again).
ReplyDeleteWe just love watching the Tui. They are almost iridescent in the sunlight.
DeleteBrilliant! Tuis are not easy to catch on camera
ReplyDeleteYes, they move as you are taking the photo.
DeleteI was unfamiliar with waratah and I am glad that I have discovered it, but even happier to see the Tui, an enigmatic bird, and quite common as I understand it.
ReplyDeleteWe have at least three that come to the sugar syrup bird feeder.
DeleteAmazing plants and birds.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy them.
DeleteHow special to have a tui visit your garden - they love waratah and bottlebrush flowers and I see the kowhai are all starting to flower now as well. More tui to look forward to :)
ReplyDeleteWe encourage them with sugar syrup. Kowhai well in flower here.
DeleteWaratahs!!! And in such profusion. Lucky, lucky you. The Tui is icing on an already delectable cake.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit to my blog - and I am sorry that the subject of my latest post is so close to you.
Yes, we are lucky.
